They generally cannot chew through solid metal. Metal baffles with powder-coated finishes resist both teeth and weather. Polycarbonate is also highly chew-resistant, but thin plastic remains vulnerable to persistent squirrels.
How high should I hang a baffle to keep squirrels out?
Install the baffle 5 to 6 feet above the ground and place the feeder about 2 feet above it. Keep the feeder at least 2 feet away from fences, roofs, and side branches.
